For the 3rd Beaufort sculpture trienniale, Beaufort 3: Triennial of Art by the Sea, Xu Bing is exhibiting Stone Path (2008), a carved stone pathway that narrates Su Shi‘s well-known Song Dynasty poem “In response to Ziyou’s poem about days in Mianchi.” The Square Word Calligraphy path, which visitors are welcome to tread upon, winds its way through Leopold Park in downtown Ostend, a small seaside city on Belgium’s North coast.
