Xu Bing will discuss his work with ARTnew‘s Robin Cembalest at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD). Xu’s large scale installation, “Background Story,” is part of the exhibition Dead or Alive, currently on view at MAD.

Xu Bing Studio is pleased to announce that Columbia University will confer the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters upon Xu Bing during the University’s 2010 commencement exercises. This year’s honorees include early American historian Bernard Bailyn; DNA research pioneer Jacqueline Barton; Harlem Children’s Zone founder Geoffrey Canada; noted economist C. Lowell Harriss (awarded posthumously); Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education Joel L. Klein; Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Tony Kushner and innovating Chemist Koji Nakanishi.
